In a significant step towards sustainable development, the Budaun district administration has embarked on an ambitious project to illuminate the lives of its residents through solar energy. The project, with an estimated cost of Rs. 10 crore, aims to harness the power of the sun to provide uninterrupted electricity to households, schools, and community centers across the district.

The project, which falls under the ambit of the Pradhan Mantri Kisan Urja Suraksha evam Utthan Mahabhiyan (PM-KUSUM) scheme, is a testament to the government's commitment to providing clean and affordable energy to rural areas. The scheme, launched by the Ministry of New and Renewable Energy (MNRE), provides financial assistance to farmers and rural communities for the installation of solar power systems.

Empowering rural communities

The Budaun project is expected to benefit over 10,000 households, ensuring reliable electricity for lighting, cooking, and other essential needs. The project will also provide solar power to over 500 schools, empowering students with access to computers, fans, and other educational tools. Additionally, over 200 community centers will be equipped with solar lighting, creating safe and accessible spaces for community gatherings and social events.

The project is not only about providing electricity but also about empowering rural communities and creating sustainable livelihoods. The project will involve training local youth in solar panel installation and maintenance, creating employment opportunities and fostering entrepreneurship in the renewable energy sector.

Reducing carbon footprint

Beyond its immediate benefits, the Budaun solar project is also a significant step towards reducing the district's carbon footprint. By harnessing renewable energy, the project will significantly reduce the use of fossil fuels, contributing to cleaner air and a healthier environment for the residents of Budaun.

The project is expected to be completed in phases, with the first phase targeting the installation of solar panels in 500 households and 100 schools by the end of the year. The remaining phases will be implemented over the next two years, ensuring that the entire district has access to reliable and affordable solar energy.
