The Boston Celtics continued to ride the tide in the Eastern Conference Finals by defeating the Miami Heat 93-88 in Game 5 on Tuesday night. The Celtics now lead the series 3-2 and are one win away from advancing to the NBA Finals.
Paul Pierce led the way for the Celtics with 21 points, while Kevin Garnett added 19 points and 10 rebounds. LeBron James led the Heat with 29 points, but he was just 9-of-26 from the field. Dwyane Wade added 20 points for the Heat.
The Celtics took control of the game in the third quarter, outscoring the Heat 29-16. The Celtics held the Heat to just 38.5% shooting from the field in the game, and they forced 17 turnovers.
The Heat will need to win Game 6 in Miami on Thursday night to force a Game 7 in Boston. Game 6 is scheduled to tip off at 8:30 p.m. ET on ESPN.
