Riccardo Calafiori Named Serie A Player of the Month

Riccardo Calafiori, the young Italian defender, has been named Serie A Player of the Month for September 2023. Calafiori has been in superb form for Bologna this season, helping his team to a surprising start in the league.

Impressive Stats

The 22-year-old has made five appearances for Bologna in Serie A this season, scoring one goal and providing two assists. He has also been impressive defensively, averaging 2.5 tackles and 1.5 interceptions per game.

Calafiori's performances have not gone unnoticed by other clubs, with several Premier League teams reportedly interested in signing him in the January transfer window.

Calafiori is a product of the Roma youth academy and made his Serie A debut for the club in 2020. He joined Bologna on loan in 2023 and has quickly become a key player for the Rossoblu.

Calafiori is the second Bologna player to be named Serie A Player of the Month this season, after Marko Arnautovic won the award in August.

Bologna are currently seventh in Serie A, just three points behind fourth-placed Lazio. Calafiori's form will be crucial if Bologna are to maintain their challenge for a place in Europe next season.
